Edging For Flower Garden

Simple Story:

edging border front

Wooden Floral Edging
I wanted to have more flowers around the yard. How? We'll I thought about it for a while and decided to do my "areas" in a wood edge treatment that you see here.

It's pretty simple. They are landscape timbers I chainsaw to random lengths. Dig a little trench and put them in the ground. I make the trench pretty deep to hold the timbers securely. They have survived well for years now. Even with the kids getting all over them. The horse, well, the horse knocks them out of place, but they're very easy to put back.

For my placements I have put them in as curves. Just a personal choice. In nature I do not see to many straight lines and I see many folks doing borders and edging in straight lines. Straight lines are easier, but I like to do things a little different. Also, it's easy to mow around this stuff. I read an article about "easy mowing" a few years ago and was won over on the concept of making your yard easy to mow. With all my borders curved properly, mowing is just driving around them rather than backing up again and again or coming in at different angles.

Most anyone could do this themsleves I think. But if you for some reason can not or do not want to do this kind of stuff, I'd be glad to.
