Planter Boxes

Simple Story:

Matching Planter Boxes
I wanted some king of "substantial" planter boxes out near the pool. Wanted to have pretty large pots and the ability to move the plants inside when cold weather occurs. And I wanted them to look impressive. I made three of the planters you see to the right. I am very happy with them. Some variation to this style would fit many settings.

I started out getting pots to the size I wanted for the plants I would eventually put in them. Then, found a general concept on a planter box I liked (with improvements and my own modifications, of course). I modified the plans to fit the already purchase pots and then made the planters. They feature rounded off edges top and bottom, and I added metal adjustable feet to the four corner bottoms to 1) keep the wood off the ground and 2) to allow leveling of the boxes as the pavement is sloped away from the pool. Again, I love them.

2003 Update:
Over time the planters "greyed" as I expected and intended. After about 2 years I decided to stain them as most of my back furniture is now stained. See the "Whole Story" for more details.
