My Comments:

Simple and easy allowing a multitude of varations. Height, width, depth up to you. Top edge can be bigger, smaller, thicker, etc. A group of them would be nice. Could add "adjustable feet" for leveling and keeping wood off surface and thus extending live of the piece.
